What should we build longer-term that the community really wants? How do you blend arts music and culture? This is the beginning of the transformation of the Grosvenor Metro Station area from a parking lot to a place.
With arts and learning a core part of our vision, Fivesquares is working with Strathmore Music Center to create a vibrant hub for Strathmore’s Artists in Residence, as well as incorporating intimate performances, rehearsal spaces, classrooms, and galleries throughout the space. A seamless extension of the cultural and performance arts campus, this multidimensional space will infuse the community with a unique flavor.

What we're trying to do is show how you can take a parking lot today and really find a way to reuse that and create something-- and what we're trying to create is community.
When we learned that Metro was decommissioning part of their fleet, we wanted to find a way to reuse one of those cars in our project. With the help of artist Robert “Mojo” Mojeski, we are repurposing an entire subway car to create retail kiosks at the Grosvenor Strathmore Metro, which longer-term is going to be a development where we try to bring community together around arts, music and culture.
